The artist of the month for February is Ezra Jack Keats (1916-1983)
Keats was one of the most important children’s authors and illustrators of the 20th century. He is known best for introducing multiculturalism in children’s literature and was one of the first children’s authors to include an urban setting for his stories.
In honor of Ezra Jack Keats we will read The Snowy Day, make pet snowballs, and Fabulous Paper Hats in the next weeks to come!
The artist for the month of January is Eric Carle (June 25, 1929- )
Eric Carle is celebrated as the creator of radiantly illustrated designed picture books for children. He is best-known for . This book has “eaten its way into the hearts of literally millions of children all over the world”. In preschool this month we will learn some of the techniques that Mr. Carle uses when he creates his art.
